Sunday service updates:

Dear Church Family,

We are facing an emergency order from the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center Director, which has mandated that all “Gatherings,” including “places of worship,” follow the mandatory face mask requirement.
All our services will continue as scheduled. This includes Sunday Morning Service, Sunday Evening Young Adults Gathering, Wednesday Night Frontline Youth Ministry and Signs of the Times meetings. This also includes any special events that are scheduled at this time. You will be notified of any changes.
We know this can be a very fluid situation and may change in the near future, but we are implementing the following in accordance to the mandated order “as we understand it.”
Pursuant to the order (Order No. 20-01) issued by the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center, a mandatory face covering order went into effect Monday, July 13th.
Quoting parts of Emergency Order: (Full Order can be read following the link at the bottom of this letter)
Section 1.2 Definitions.
"Public Spaces" means Businesses or other workplace facilities, both public and private, indoor and outdoor, used by the public, including, but not limited to, grocery and other retail stores, service establishments, educational institutions, entertainment and recreational facilities, concert venues, museums, bowling alleys, amusement parks, fairs, arts and craft facilities, zoos, public and private social clubs, places of worship, or public facilities.
Section 1.4 Provisions. Face Coverings must be worn by:
1. All persons over the age of 9, including employees or visitors, present at any Business, or Public Space; or
2. All persons over the age of 9 when outdoors in a Public Space when anyone other than members of their household, or living unit will be within six feet; or
3. All persons over the age of 9 attending a Gathering of individuals who are not members of their household in any area which will necessarily involve close contact or proximity to others when six feet of separation is not feasible. This restriction does not apply to Gatherings of individuals at personal residences.

A. Our understanding of this order “at this time” is as follows:
1. Masks MUST be worn by the “Gathering of Individuals” at Church:

a. A mask must be worn by everyone over the age of 9 (unless their health, or safety is affected by an existing medical condition) where six-feet distancing is not feasible.
b. Mask must be worn when arriving and departing Church Services, when it is not feasible to maintain the six-feet distancing rule.

c. Masks must be worn during greeting and fellowshipping times before and after service where six-feet distancing rule is not feasible.
d. If you are seated “within” the six-feet distancing rule from someone who is not
your family member, a mask must be worn. There will be single seating (six-feet
from other seating) that will be available at the end of the rows, where one may be seated and/or stand where the face covering may be removed.

2. Masks are NOT REQUIRED when:
a. You are seated with your own family members in the Church Service.

1) We will have the auditorium seating spaced out in groups of four seats, six-feet apart from other groups of four. This will allow you to remove your masks as you participate in the Worship Service while standing and/or seated with your family members.
b. Standing on the stage maintaining six-feet from others.
c.
You have trouble breathing with face covering.
d. You have impaired hearing which requires visual speaking of communications, or you are someone who is communicating with a person with impaired hearing.

e. Children, 9 years of age and younger under adult supervision are exempt from
the mask requirement.
f. Medical conditions and other health issues requiring exemption from the mask
rules are understood and are exempt from the face covering requirement.
g. You occupy one of the single seats available at the end of the rows which are located six-feet from other individuals.

B. What we are asking when you arrive 1. We ask all people
a. To sanitize their hands upon entering the building.
b. Follow the six-feet distancing rule.
c. Avoid shaking hands, hugs, or embraces.
d. Wear masks where the six-feet distancing rule is not feasible.

C. What about those who come to Church without a mask?
1. Entry to a Church Service will not be denied to those without a mask.
2. Masks will be made available to those who may need one upon entry into the building.

D. The Church wants you to be fully informed on the matter at hand
1. The Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center is requiring of all “Gatherings,” including “places of worship” to implement the face mask requirement.
2. We have described the order to the best of our understanding at this point in time.
3. You are responsible people and know how to best understand and apply these orders for your individual and family situations.
4. Please be mindful and respectful of others in their implementation of this Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center order.

Blessings,
Pastor Mark Carbaugh
